......Skin-cancer surgery,
like plastic
surgery, is an art. When it comes to the more difficult skin cancers, your
surgeon should be able to tell you that he/she can deliver the best result in
the medical community. If not, you should be referred to the person who can
do the best job. When judging a doctor's results, try to ask if the photos were
digitally manipulated (changed). None of the photos that you are about to see
have been altered in any way other than being digitally scanned and placed on
a computer. Many of these cases are out of the scope of most skin-cancer surgeons'
capabilities because they require a true Mohs surgeon in addition to the ability
to effect a quality plastic-surgical repair. See Obtaining True Mohs Surgery.
You may wish to refer also to the appropriate subsections on closures, plastic/cosmetic
skin-cancer removal/repairs, flaps and grafts, for a further discussion of these
procedures.
