Several keratoacanthomas of the leg with white scale arising at the same time. These KA's developed alongside a squamous-cell cancer that is mushroom-like and weeping.    Keratoacanthoma seen under the white scale on the arm of an organ transplant patient.

.....This photo represents the keratoacanthoma the type of growth that was present covering almost the entire leg of a patient who had failed numeroius traditional surgeries (scraping and burning, and cutting with scalpel). The patient had already undergone several surgeries which he found to be extremely painful, distressing and disruptive to the circulation of his legs. The patient then came to see the website author who instead treated him with Tazarotene gel (before this was reported in the medical literature). Both legs were visibly cleared of KA within one month; remember we cannot know truely or microscopically without cutting out large amounts of tissue (which would not be desirable). This patient had suffered many years with a history of KA growing and popping up all up and down the legs. Too much surgery to the lower legs can be mutilating and destructive to the circulation because only a thin layer of skin, fat and muscle covers thick bone. The circulation disruption could even result in the formation of cellulitis (an infection of the tissues of the legs). Cellulitis can be life threatening and result in more severe circulatory disruption.

.....As of 1998, this website report likely represents the very first report in all of the literature of the world of the use of Tazarotene to treat multiple KA of the legs. We caution all patients that until multiple study results are published in the formal medical literature, Tazarotene treatment for multiple KA's may not be a first line treatment option.
