Chapter 5
Lasers, Stitches and
the Future of Treatments
Aim
of the laser section: After reviewing this chapter the reader should
be more familiar with laser and how it compares to other forms of
skin cancer surgery in the treatment of basal cell carcinoma, squamous
cell carcinoma and other forms of skin cancer. The use of laser to
perform Mohs Surgery or plastic surgery and reconstructive surgery
is explained. Comparison of laser with other precancer or skin cancer
treatment methods including liquid nitrogen, curettage, interferon,
photodynamic therapy and stitches among other are discussed in-depth.
Claims of reduced scarring with laser are approached.
